I’m not sure now where I found this, but I thought this article was really interesting. It’s about a tweak to using your Gmail account to handle signing up for multiple e-mail lists. You can use Gmail’s filtering functionality to automatically categorize your e-mails for the different lists. The other nice thing is that if you start to receive SPAM on one of the e-mail list subscriptions, you’ll know which company was the initial offender that sold off your e-mail address.
The gist of the idea is that [email protected] is considered a valid e-mail address for most people who would ask for one. And if you send an e-mail to [email protected] it will still arrive in the actual e-mail address [email protected]. Be sure and read the full article though for all the details.
