We’ve all seen them and probably spent time trying to read them and or peel them off to replace them at some point in our lives. You know what I’m talking about, those little labels we put on things to identify what we had planned to put in all those little containers and on certain shelves. Personal labels
You remember hunting and pecking your way through the little keyboard and then waiting for the printer to spit out your little curly label. Except when it printed it LooKeD sOmethIng like this because the shift key was always a little tricky.
I’ve been asked to take a look at the new P-touch labeler from Brother and let people know what I think. I figured since my wife and I have started home schooling our kids, this will be our 2nd year, trying to get our dining room/classroom a little more organized would be just the thing we needed.
This will be a series of posts that I’ll publish, but the first one is going to focus on the durability of these new labels.
I was sent a P-touch Tough Test-it Challenge kit. It had a variety of tools and other paraphenalia in it in order for me to see just how tough and rugged these labels are going to last. Because remember, as I stated at the beginning, we’ve all seen those labels that start peeling on the edges, wearing out on the print and generally becoming useless for whatever we stuck them to in the beginning. Plus, when they come off, you’re left with a sticky little rectangle of dirty glue that makes everything look even worse.
We took this Test-it Challenge kit through the paces. We used a wash cloth, baby wipes, nylon scrubber pad, a Scotch pad and a tooth brush to try to get the label off of a piece of Plexi-glass that was sent with the kit. IT HUNG IN THERE LIKE A CHAMP! With all of those items, we used a variety of cleaning solutions, including nail polish remover and still didn’t lose any real quality on the label.
So far, our experience with the Brother P-touch labels has been impressive. It appears that when we decide to print a label and put it somewhere, it’s going to be there long into the future to help us hopefully stay organized.
The committee meetings are still in progress with my wife on exactly how we’re going to use the P-touch labeler and labels, but right now we’re pretty certain it’s going to be for home school organization and perhaps some assistance with getting things organized in our laundry room.
In my next post, I’ll let you know what all we decided to do to organize our lives and how the Brother P-touch labeler provided the assistance we needed to accomplish that goal in these areas. Then a little bit further in the future we’ll revisit where we put those labels and let you know how they stood up to our daily wear-and-tear around our house.
Stay tuned!
