…no, not since I wrote a post, although there has definitely been a gap in posting with my recent excursion down to the Katrina ravaged city of New Orleans. It’s been 32 years since I stepped foot on this terra firma we call Earth. I’ll be celebrating the occasion today with my parents for lunch today at Cracker Barrell, then my in-laws for dinner tonight at P.F. Changs.
I did just return from New Orleans. I was there for almost a full week working at a neighborhood ministry center called Desire Sreet Ministries. This ministry was a school and kind of like a community center a neighborhood in New Orleans that held 20,000+ people and was the murder capital of New Orleans. Since New Orleans was the murder capital of the United States, that pretty much makes this place a bad place to be. However, now it’s a shell of it’s former shell. This was honestly the closest I’ve ever come to being in a 3rd world country. This trip was very eye-opening for me. As a side note for NFL fans, this little neighborhood produced the great Marshall Faulk. In addition ex-NFL quarterback Danny Wuerffel is the main sponsor for the Desire Street Ministry.
