Happy Mother’s Day

Today was Mother’s Day, if you didn’t know that, and yours is still alive or you’re married with children….YOU’RE IN TROUBLE BY NOW!

Today was a good day for me overall. Aside from the fact that we were up at 6:30am to get ready because my wife and I had to be at church at 7:15am, things went well. The kids weren’t ready to get up, well none of us were, but they got to go to church with pillows and a blanket to lay down, while Kim and I got to practice our drama sketch and I ran the lightboard.

I went to bed this morning around 1am, so getting back up less than 6 hours later wasn’t exactly a nice present for me. That’s a good thing though since I’m not a mother.

We headed to P.F. Changs for lunch and there was much food to be enjoyed. Seared Ahi tuna, pan-fried dumplins, spare ribs, crab rangoons, lettuce wraps, pin rice noodle soup, spicy chicken dish, hot tea, honey shrimp and chicken and more!

We got home about 4:00pm and Kim took a well deserved nap on the couch while the children played quietly for the most part and I sat at the dining room table and worked on a project for a client. Still working on it, just taking a short break.

Called my mom at lunch and wished her a Happy Day. I’ve got great parents. They raised me right, but let me make my own decisions most of the time and even suffer the consequences of those decisions, which is very important in my book. Sometimes Kim feels like I’m too hard on the kids, but I think it’s better for them to learn these lessons now than to grow up thinking the world or people owe them something.

What do you think?

Oh, and out of curiousity, what do you get your mom/wife? Kim wanted a $130 flat-iron thing for her hair. I completely don’t understand spending that much for one when I could have gotten one for less than half that. Even my sister-in-law, a licensed beautician said she probably couldn’t tell the difference. Doesn’t matter though. I usually suck at remembering special events and occasions. Truthfully, I remember them, just don’t ever get anything. I’m what you would call “special-day-challenged.”

Therefore, it doesn’t matter what the gift was this year, I was getting it. I’m sure there’s plenty of things I spend money on that doesn’t make sense to her either.

  • You had me at fried dumplings. Oh what a feast!

Your wife probably wants an ion or ceramic flat-iron, right? I have curly hair and I bought a $60 one. It was okay. It did the job. My $130 (CDN Dollars, lol) one is MAGNIFICENT!!! Wow, I don't even have to blow-dry my hair first. I swear my hair sees it coming and just lays down. It really could be my imagination or me wanting to believe that I didn't waste a whole bunch of money. Just my two cents.
