Finally getting caught up on some past writing I’ve needed to do and this past is WAY overdue. A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to take a brand new Chevy Traverse off the lot of Hare Chevrolet up in Noblesville.

I’ll be honest and up front, I wasn’t looking to buy a new Chevy car or anything. I’ve been enjoying driving my ‘96 Camry with 257,000 miles and still getting almost 30 mpg. The problem was, as soon as I stood next to and then sat in the car I was hooked.

The Chevy Traverse is a full-sized sport utility vehicle, but it feels like it has the interior room equal to that of our mini-van. There’s a 2nd row bench seat to help you fit seven people fairly comfortably.

With all the size available, the Traverse still drives and handles like a much smaller vehicle. It has all the comforts and amenities of a luxury car and my entire family was hooked after a single afternoon drive down to Brown County to visit friends. My daughter even said, “this is the best drive to Brown County EVER!”.

The Chevy Traverse also worked well as a stylish upgrade to the standard <strike>soccer</strike> baseball mom mini-van. Hauling players around as well as their equipment in the back hatch would be no struggle at all.

As much as my kids enjoyed their time in the backseat passing the time of the trip by with each mile on the road by watching a DVD in the entertainment system, it was my wife that had the hardest time letting me take the Traverse back to Hare Chevrolet dealership.

We’re still not “officially” in the market for a new car, but I can tell you this, when we are, I’ll be sure and visit Hare Chevrolet in Noblesville and see what they can do to convince me to buy a new Chevy car… it won’t take much.

The baseball season for our family is in full swing. Not because we’re really that concerned about what’s happening in MLB, but because our son’s baseball season has started. He’s done well thus far and his team has won their first two games of the season.

Last night they had a tough game against his coach from last year and a number of his team mates from his team last year. They pulled out the win!

Ethan enjoys pitching and playing catcher. In the first game of the season he came in as a relief pitcher and through 54 pitches and chalked-up six strikeouts in the process. He enjoys playing catcher and since that’s the position I normally play in softball, I enjoy giving him tips and instruction on how to improve his catching skills.

Yesterday a player, Brian Kownacki, for Fordham College, made an amazing leap over a catcher to score a run for his team. We’ll have to work on how to defend the plate when that sort of thing happens, but I don’t think we’ll be seeing this type of move anytime soon in Little League baseball.

It finally happened to me. I received my termination letter this morning from b5media President & CEO, Elaine Kunda. There’s been quite a bit of chaos around the b5media world the last few weeks as they continued to dump bloggers as part of their ongoing quest to re-focus and reconfigure themselves as a new media company.

I’ve been writing for b5 since the early days, and actually started when original CEO and founder Jeremy Wright invited me to the team back in December of 2004. Since that time I’ve written for a number of sites and on a variety of topics for the network.

As the company continued to grow and gain funding, I surfed the wave of bumps and bruises along the way and enjoyed the community around the network. It was a great time and I learned a ton about myself and the topics I wrote about.

I’ve always thought that the strength of b5media didn’t necessarily lie with the idea behind the network, but it was because of who was involved, both at the top, in tech support and all of the individual bloggers. It was a great community.

As things began to shake-up and shake-out, I avoided numerous rounds of cuts, pay contract changes and restructures. I wasn’t sure how long the ride was going to last, but I committed to continue writing and just "keep my head down" and see where I ended up.

I ended up at today.

My time with b5media is over.

I’ll miss the memories of b5, but I’m looking forward to taking a little bit of a breather and starting to write on my own sites again. They’ve been sorely ignored with everything else I’ve had going on.

If you enjoyed my writing on all of these topics, stayed tuned here to see what I’ll be doing next and be sure and follow me on twitter as I’ll continue to be active there.

So long to the past and here’s to the future with more of my investment and time going to my own deal with Bnpositive Communication & Design.
