I’m not sure why all this information didn’t really gel with me before now, but 2006 should be a really big year for Microsoft. They will be releasing Windows Vista, Office 12, Halo 3 and ongoing releases of more Xbox 360 stuff.
Reading this article on SFgate.com pointed it out when Kate Carcelan, Microsoft’s consumer strategy team program manager, mentioned it:
Kate Carcelen, Microsoft’s consumer strategy team program manager, said 2006 would be a big year for her company, as it will not only start selling Vista but Microsoft Office 12 and continue to build momentum with its new Xbox 360 video game console, which started selling in November.
Has Microsoft ever had that many major releases scheduled for a single calendar year? It’s been 5 years since XP rolled outin 2001 I believe. Xbox came out later that same year. And the last version of Office was 2003.
Microsoft provides a neat timeline view of their history here.
