I grew up in the Nazarene church and come from a fairly long line of Nazarene pastors in my family (dad, grandfather, great-greatfather and both brothers). I guess I was somewhat of the black-sheep in that I knew I had no desire whatsoever to become a pastor, becoming a missionary was a possibility at one time though. Still active in the church though, so I’m thankful for my spiritual heritage.
Instead I’m active on the Internet and trying to keep a pulse on what’s happening online and with social media. It made me happy to hear that Bryon McLaughlin has setup NazareneBlogs.org to give a place for Nazarenes all over the world to have a blog of their own in a community of fairly like-minded people.
I think this is a great idea, and the thought then crossed my mind to go purchase lots of other domains like baptistblogs.org, catholicblogs.org, etc., etc.
I’m still reading a bit about what they’re doing and how they are going to accomplish things. I’m hoping they handle it a bit like a network and feature blogs in their community somehow, perhaps even a combined RSS feed would be nice.
For individuals just getting started into blogging and don’t want to worry about setting up the technical requirements and managing all the behind the scenes stuff, blogging on sites like this makes it super-easy for them. If anyone then wants to move on to their own completely managed blog, because they’re using WordPress, they can easily export and restore all their content onto their own domain at some point in the future.
For pastors and church leaders that are looking for an easy way to setup a website for their church, they should look into using the WordPress platform as a CMS (Content Management System) as well. If you’re reading this and interested, just let me know. I have quite a bit of experience setting up websites for churches and ministry organizations and now host about 30+ websites and blogs on the WordPress platform.
I am a retired Nazarene missionary with many years experience working with the hispanic community. I have created a Nazarene blog hoping to reach Nazarene pastors who are looking for help in reaching their ethnic neighbors. Is there an index of Nazarene pastors' blogs I can go to?Harry
I am a retired Nazarene missionary with many years experience ministering to the hispanic community in Peru, Uruguay and Chile. I have created a Nazarene blog with the expectation to help Nazarene pastors who are having difficulty reaching their ethnic neighbors. Is there an index of Nazarene pastors and church blogs?Harry
Harry, I'm not aware of any index. But you've given me a good idea of something to work on. The only drawback is I've got loads of "ideas" and no time to work on them. Let me know if you discover something of your own, I'd be very interested.

Jason. For some reason none of my comments get published. This one has been in limbo for two days. After a couple of days under review all my comments have been deleted. Why?This comment was on a Nazarene blog dealing with World Evangelism Fund.our comment is awaiting approvalAs a retired missionary I understand and appreciate what WEF stands for. Back then it was called the General Budget. When the Department of World Missions approved our field budget and told us to go ahead with our planned projects we knew there were not sufficient funds in the bank in Kansas City to finance the mission fields around the world. The General Church committed themselves to our mission fields in faith that thousands of Nazarenes would be faithful in their giving through the Easter offering, Thanksgiving offering and Faith Promise giving. I don’t think all Nazarenes understand and appreciate that aspect of WEF. Our field budgets were approved as an act of great faith.Harry G. FlinnerRetired missionary
All of your comments are published above. Not sure which ones you've left that you believe were deleted unless they got caught in one of my other spam filters. I try to keep a close eye on comments and approve as quickly as possible.
JasonThank you for your response to my inquiry about your process of approving submissions. My comment appears on your blog ARE YOU A NAZARENE but it is still in awaiting approval on the world Evangelism blog where I wrote it.This is the blog I am referring to. I don't have any involvement in that other blog. Can't give you any insight into their processes.
