What If Your Pastor Reads Your Blog?

One of my latest “clients” is my pastor. I’ve set him up with a blog and introduced him to twitter.

I just found out he reads my blog, which shouldn’t really surprise me but it made me think.

Do I post stuff I wouldn’t want my pastor to read?

I don’t think I do or would. I’m generally unconcerned with what people think about what I think. Does it make a difference?

I know it was a little thought-inspiring when I found out some members of my extended family read my blog. I know they don’t understand how I think or why many times.

The question still remains. Will I blog any differently knowing my pastor is reading?

Would or do you blog differently if your pastor or family read your blog?

If you've enjoyed what you've read, you can show your appreciation by buying me a cup of coffee.

I decided a while back just to be myself. Some people will like it, some people won’t — but I can’t worry about that.

As a pastor who blogs…I am often tempted to alter my blogging content because I find out people I’m pastoring read it! But authenticity is what I’m going for.

you may have to stop critiquing his message, or maybe just use constructive criticism!

I am on a short leash and often locked in the church basement to do mundane things like cold calls to make sure the numbers are up at our church or make sure the crafts are ready for Sunday school. When I am let out to see the sun and buy items for Sunday’s potluck, I run to the local library and post my blog. It is my voice of freedom to all those in bondage as I am.

OK, that may be a bit overstated and some of it might not even be true…

I don’t think I would change. But because I know lots of christians read my sites; I do try to be provacotive just to get people thinking. So I may blog using a “voice” that is not mine.
