Juvenile Diabetes

Have I ever mentioned how proud I am of my son? He’s a great kid and is having a great year in 1st grade. Today his school is raising funds for Juvenile Diabetes and was featured in an article in the Indianapolis Star newspaper.

I think Ethan raised over $50 himself. What a great kid!

Rosie O’Donnell - I Used to Like Her

Rosie O'DonnellI’m usually not much of an activist about things like this, but this is just ridiculous. Rosie O’Donnell has stated that Christians are no different from Muslims in our pursuit of our religious beliefs. I didn’t even mind it too much when Rosie came out of the closet, even though I disagree with her lifestyle. But comments like this just irritate me to no end.

O’Donnell on ABC: ‘Radical Christians’ no different than murderous radical Muslims

Neither O’Donnell nor ABC has apologized

ABC’s Rosie O’Donnell told a nationwide audience this week that “radical Christians” are the same as radical Muslims who piloted hijacked jetliners into New York’s Twin Towers, who chop off the heads of individuals and who bomb innocent children in suicide attacks. O’Donnell made her comments as host of ABC’s “The View.”

“Radical Christianity is just as threatening as radical Islam in a country like America where we have separation of church and state,” O’Donnell said. She had been saying that America was attacked “not by a nation.” She continued: “And as a result of the attack and the killing of 3,000 innocent people, we invaded two countries and killed innocent people.”

Even her liberal co-hosts were shocked by her comments.
Co-host Joy Behar protested that Christians are not trying to impose mass murder on America. “This group (radical Muslims) is threatening to kill us.” Replied O’Donnell: “No, but we are bombing innocent people in other countries. True or false?”

O’Donnell was saying there is no difference between the radical Muslims who kill in the name of Allah and Bible-believing Christians who follow the teachings of Jesus.

Neither O’Donnell nor ABC apologized for the comments. Had she made similar comments about minorities or homosexuals, there would have been an apology, and she would have probably been fired.

The message from ABC is that bashing Christians is acceptable, even comparing them with murderers who kill in the name of Allah.
Take Action
Tell ABC that O’Donnell’s comments deserve an apology and a reprimand.

Do with it what you will, but I at least wanted you to know it occurred and let you make your own decision if it needs to be addressed.

I Choose Indy

Douglas Karr recently found this blog and let me know about another blog entitled “I Choose Indy”. He encouraged me to post an article there, which I’ve just completed here. Here’s a little bit about the site:

While reading Naked Conversations (how blogs are changing the way businesses talk with customers), Pat Coyle was inspired to put the concepts to use with I Choose Indy. Recent articles in the Indianapolis Business Journal spoke to the ongoing efforts by regional leaders to market Indianapolis to the world with a cool logo and perhaps a nifty slogan. Rather than do this, why not have business professionals and political leaders in the region speak to why they live in or moved to Indianapolis? We’re proud of our city and our place in the mid-west, and there are too many reasons to choose Indy that simply can not fit into a catchy tagline.

This is a great idea! More cities should do this, or city based magazines, like Indianapolis Monthly, should make it more known and really promote it as a resource for finding out what a city is really like from the people that live there.

Miranda Dixon Helps Win Tournament

That’s my cousin!

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas softball team opened up the fall season in style with three wins in the Arkansas Fall Festival, Saturday, Sept. 10 at Lady’Back Yard.
The Lady Razorbacks defeated Crowder College 7-2, Seminole State College 4-0 and Bacone College 8-0 in five innings.
The Lady’Backs had 29 hits in the tournament and were led offensively by freshmen Jess Reed and Miranda Dixon. Reed, a Fayetteville native, went 5-for-6, hitting .833 on the day. She added a double, a triple, three runs and two RBIs. Dixon, a product of Edmond, Okla., was 4-for-7, scoring two runs.
“Overall we hit extremely well today,” said head softball coach Jamie Pinkerton. “I was really impressed by all of our newcomers, especially (Jess) Reed and (Miranda) Dixon.”

and this specifically…

In the final game of the Arkansas Fall Festival, freshman pitcher Miranda Dixon fanned eight in tossing a one-hit, five-inning shutout of the Bacone Warriors.

“Even when Miranda got behind in the count, she was able to work back and be successful,” said Pinkerton

Be sure and go read the entire article for all the stats. AND DON’T FORGET TO VOTE FOR MIRANDA IN THE POLL ON THE BOTTOM LEFT. She’s falling behind another player again! Tell your friends to vote too.

Joseph Called Bethlehem Home?

I was just reading a story about the birth of Jesus to my daughter for bedtime. I’m not sure why I didn’t think about it before, but given the fact that Joseph returned to the city of his birth and raising he would have known some people. Wouldn’t you think there would have been some kind of family around there still that they could have stayed with instead of the manger?
